About and methodology

What this is

An independent reference to the rules for admission to the bars of U.S. federal district courts and state bars, and for pro hac vice appearances. It is not affiliated with any court, bar or government agency, and it is not legal advice.

Where the data comes from

Each value comes from a document published by the court or bar itself: local rules, general orders, admission pages, fee schedules and forms. The pulled documents are read and the relevant fields are extracted with AI assistance. Most values are supported by a verbatim quote that is machine-checked against the document text. Some, such as recently added fees, come from official pages read directly and carry the source link without a checked quote. The confidence label on each page shows which is which.

Gaps

Gaps are shown in three distinct ways: “Not applicable” where a field cannot apply, “None” where a source states there is no such requirement, and “Not in the pulled documents” where the documents are silent. Silence is never treated as an answer.

Confidence labels

Verified quoted from the current rule text. Court page taken from the court’s or bar’s own page, rule text not yet checked. Provisional sources conflict, are secondary, or are out of date.

Updates

Court orders change often. Each page shows the date it was last checked. The latest data check was 2026-10-05.
